Baby Maverick

This blog was created to keep family and friends updated on what's going on with the pregnancy, birth, and surgical plan for Maverick. We'll also be able to keep everyone updated during his surgery and recovery and hopefully be able to show you some cute pictures of him, Maddie, Carter and Chloe along the way.

This was the original intent; however, when we started this blog we had no idea the twists and turns our lives would take. Our sweet baby Maverick was born September 12, 2008 with Transposition of the Great Arteries, ASD, and VSD. We expected to have a baby boy to bring home three to four weeks after his surgery. He had numerous complications after his arterial switch and fought through many that would have taken the life from an adult. He passed away February 24, 2009 - without ever coming home.

This blog is now a place I share my feelings, work through the grief, remember Maverick, and try to make sense out of our life without him. I hope in doing so I am giving a name and a face to babies everywhere born with congenital heart defects.

Quick Update

We are just resting today and getting ready for the big day tomorrow. I was just in the NICU and they are doing another echo just to get a few more pictures of his coronary artery before surgery tomorrow. He is resting well and his sats have been in the low 90's today. Greg is doing well today and I am just a basket case. Don't be offended if I don't answer the phone today. We've been discharged from the hospital and we'll be in a courtesy room on the 7th floor. It's so great that we can stay here and keep a close eye on him. Thanks for all your comments and prayers. We love you all!

Juli,
I am praying, praying and praying. He is so handsome and his side view looks like Greg to me! I am thankful he didn't have to have the extra procedure and thankful the single coronary didn't change things either! God is good and so faithful. We prayed for you all this morning in the service. Get some rest and know that you all are loved. Amanda

Congratulations! Maverick is so chubby and cute! I can't believe you've already been discharged. I guess the delivery went well and physically you feel okay or they wouldn't have let you go so soon. Try hard to get some rest. We'll be thinking about you all tomorrow and watching the blogspot for news.

Julianne,
He is absolutely adorable! It is amazing how much the 3D US pic looks like the second picture you posted. I bet the kids are thrilled & incredibly proud.
Love you, lp
P.S. I forwarded the blog spot to Rudy & Max. (It's the first thing Max asked about when he walked in.)
