Baby Maverick

This blog was created to keep family and friends updated on what's going on with the pregnancy, birth, and surgical plan for Maverick. We'll also be able to keep everyone updated during his surgery and recovery and hopefully be able to show you some cute pictures of him, Maddie, Carter and Chloe along the way.

This was the original intent; however, when we started this blog we had no idea the twists and turns our lives would take. Our sweet baby Maverick was born September 12, 2008 with Transposition of the Great Arteries, ASD, and VSD. We expected to have a baby boy to bring home three to four weeks after his surgery. He had numerous complications after his arterial switch and fought through many that would have taken the life from an adult. He passed away February 24, 2009 - without ever coming home.

This blog is now a place I share my feelings, work through the grief, remember Maverick, and try to make sense out of our life without him. I hope in doing so I am giving a name and a face to babies everywhere born with congenital heart defects.

Cautiously optimistic

It seems that for now he is turning the corner. They have started weaning his nor-epi (one of his heart medicines) and he has stopped retaining all the fluid they give him. Yeah! Baby steps in the right direction. God is good. jc

Greg and Juli:

Just wanted to write and tell you we are watching this site and praying. We love you sooooo much and we are absolutely in love with Maverick already. Praise you Jesus for this baby and for the baby steps he's taking - we'll take them! There just are not the right "words" sometimes to tell you the depth of our joy and concern for you, nor what to pray sometimes, but the Holy Spirit knows and utters the words when ours seem so insignificant. Please know you are all very much in our hearts and prayers. Love you Dorraine Hudson & Fam.

We are so very thankful!!! All 5 of us prayed for him at bedtime last night. The kids were so glad this morning whenever I told them that baby Maverick had a good night. I hope that you got some sleep after you posted the news. We are still praying. Amanda

What a blessing that precious little Maverick is improving. We we are praying for him and your family throughout each day. May the Lord continue to give you the strength and peace that has already brought you through the last 10 days.

Julianne: Thoughts and prayers with you. I know it has to be so hard as a nurse and to know so much. I think about you and yours every day. Marla
