Baby Maverick

This blog was created to keep family and friends updated on what's going on with the pregnancy, birth, and surgical plan for Maverick. We'll also be able to keep everyone updated during his surgery and recovery and hopefully be able to show you some cute pictures of him, Maddie, Carter and Chloe along the way.

This was the original intent; however, when we started this blog we had no idea the twists and turns our lives would take. Our sweet baby Maverick was born September 12, 2008 with Transposition of the Great Arteries, ASD, and VSD. We expected to have a baby boy to bring home three to four weeks after his surgery. He had numerous complications after his arterial switch and fought through many that would have taken the life from an adult. He passed away February 24, 2009 - without ever coming home.

This blog is now a place I share my feelings, work through the grief, remember Maverick, and try to make sense out of our life without him. I hope in doing so I am giving a name and a face to babies everywhere born with congenital heart defects.

FW: mav

This is Mav this morning. His little eyes are red from all the swelling a few days ago. His weight remains stable. No gains - no losses. They have been weaning the nor-epi today and he's almost off it. He's weaned a tad on his ventilator, too. He's been awake and looking at his mobile today. He's just so sweet. I just wish we could speed things up so we can go home! jc

Juli,
Oh, he is so precious! Thanks for the new pics. I hope you get to snuggle him again soon.
Isaiah 43:

1 But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers,they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire,you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

Much love and many prayers,
Amber and Crew

He is looking great! I am so glad that your mom is able to be there - we all need some mom-time (no matter how independent we are!)

Love you - Kristi

Good morning Juli,

Wow, that pic looks like he's saying "Get me the heck out of here!" That look tells me he's looking really good! So glad to hear of his progress. God is good!

Hang in there and keep strong.

Juli,
Maddie told me that there was a new picture so I jumped on to see it. What a sweet little face he has! I just have the urge to kiss his little cheeks!
Thanks for the update on how you're doing. Lean on your Mom while she's there - that's what Moms are good for. My Mom doesn't live near me, either, and I really treasure the visits.
I'm continuing to hope for smooth, steady progress for Maverick.
Take care,
Meredith
